After election racism

hello everybody
This is my first blog every hope its alright. Main idea behind it is, me commenting on life as a liberal
in a very conservative part of a red state. since the election i have had some shocking encounters 1957ish racism. Day after election i am at a local gas station (it is close to my house and it were i do most of my filling up) as i am paying for my purchase the girl behind counter asked me why i was in such a good mood. I replied i was very happy about election results. She then told me she thought everybody wanted a colored person in the white house. I was shocked. first of all who the hell talks like that anymore. second there was an african american man behind me in line. this girl had to be 19 20 easy how does someone so young think so backwards nowadays. The man just pretended not to hear and i just walked away a little dazed,little did i know more was coming.
Later in the week i was visiting a friend both of us were very happy about obama and the senate majority for the dems. he was telling a story about one of his children who was wearing an obama t shirt being told by the neighborhood kids that if obama wins he is going to make white people slaves. Wow i know when i was a kid i had some crazy ideas but there is no way you can convince me those kids came up with idea growing up in a openminded home. Since i have been asking the same question . What kind of town do I live in? how can it be in 2008 and have young girls calling people colored and kids afraid that if an african american gets any power he is coming for them with chains. It has really been driving me crazy so i thought this blog would be a great way of venting a little and putting my concerns for this country in a format that somebody may read
